Trailer: Monsters (Updated with International Trailer)

So this was one that I admitted I needed to see again before fully fleshing out an opinion. It was the last film I watched at this year’s SXSW so I was dog tired and the opening (as well as this trailer) would have you believe this is going to be an action film when it’s actually a romance set against the back drop of a future where humans are coexisting with giant aliens. The major coup for this film though are the effects. Director Gareth Edwards basically took a couple of people with him to Mexico and shot a film, guerrilla style. The whole thing was made for a small amount of money and the effects were done on Edwards’ laptop, by himself. Basically everything you see in this trailer has an effect in it- the warning signs on the road, the plane parts and the jet being pulled under water. At any rate, I’ll stop rambling but check this out after the jump.

Breachtube: SXSW Film 2010 Midnight Bumper

I’ve been trying to find this for a few days and I guess I just wasn’t looking hard enough. Each year at SXSW, videos play to introduce SXSW to the audience. Most of these so called “bumpers” get a little tedious after about the 5th time through, but this one just stuck out as being completely awesome. We actually bumped into one of the producers for this bumper, Mark, a few times throughout the festival and he was exceptionally nice.

Check it out after the jump and imagine if stuff like this introduced every film you saw.

Breachcast XXXII

This week we discuss Chris Evans as Captain America, Transformers 3 casting news, Bryan Singer returning to the X-Men franchise, Nintendo 3DS, SXSW 2010, The Bounty Hunter, Ninja Assassin, Dustin breaks up with Parenthood, Lost, and God of War III.

SXSW 2010 Preview: Kick-Ass

I’ve already posted a trailer for this one so I figured I would at least post this clip for SXSW’s opening night film. I’ll disclose, I didn’t watch the clip because I want to wait until tonight to see the film with fresh eyes. Enjoy it after the jump!

SXSW 2010 Preview: Cargo

A Swiss Sci-Fi flick. Looks pretty cool but I don’t really know anything more about it. I went into Moon with the same preparation last year so I’ll leave it at that. Check out the trailer and see if you’re interesting.

SXSW 2010 Preview: Micmacs

I’ll be honest, I don’t know a single thing about this movie. Neil from Rejects recommended it on Twitter so I put it on my list to check out.

SXSW 2010 Preview: Hubble 3D

I saw this preview 10 times the other night while waiting for Alice in Wonderland to begin. I’m a pretty big space nerd so I’m excited about this one. Check in out!

SXSW 2010 Preview: The Runaways

I decided to preview all of the mainstream flicks hitting SXSW for this week’s set of previews. We’ll start with The Runaways, starring Dakota Fanning and Kristen Stewart. It’s a movie about the titular group, which includes Joan Jett (Stewart), and their rise to fame in the 70s. Check out the trailer after the jump.

SXSW 2010 Preview: Cyrus

Austin’s own Mark and Jay Duplass direct what many consider to be their first mainstream film with a calvalcade of comedic actors. These guys also directed The Puffy Chair and Baghead. Digg Stumble Upon Del.icio.us Buzz

SXSW Preview Film: Greenlit

There’s lots of documentaries this year that I’m looking forward to. This one details the struggles a film production had while trying to be a “green production.” The concept might seem boring but check out the trailer and see for yourself.

SXSW 2010 Preview: Tucker and Dale vs. Evil

I really don’t know what this movie’s about but it has Alan Tudyk so I’m there. It’s one of the midnight films of the festival, which are primarily genre/horror films. This one looks to please both fronts. The trailer is after the jump.

SXSW 2010 Preview: The People vs. George Lucas

Jesse and I will be attending the SXSW Film Festival this year so I thought I would start showing some previews of what we’re planning on seeing. First up is The People vs. George Lucas, which looks to be an expos√© on how Lucas’ fans have turned against him due to all the choices he’s made with the Star Wars films. The whole topic is pretty hair splitting for film geeks so this looks like an interesting piece. Check out the trailer after the jump!
