I decided to preview all of the mainstream flicks hitting SXSW for this week’s set of previews. We’ll start with The Runaways, starring Dakota Fanning and Kristen Stewart. It’s a movie about the titular group, which includes Joan Jett (Stewart), and their rise to fame in the 70s. Check out the trailer after the jump.

This was just too awesome not to post. I let out an audible nerd gasm at one of the very last shots. My only fear is that this trailer will push expectations into Dark Knight territory but with Downey and Favreau steering the ship, I think we’ll be ok. Check it out after the jump.

Austin’s own Mark and Jay Duplass direct what many consider to be their first mainstream film with a calvalcade of comedic actors. These guys also directed The Puffy Chair and Baghead.

There’s lots of documentaries this year that I’m looking forward to. This one details the struggles a film production had while trying to be a “green production.” The concept might seem boring but check out the trailer and see for yourself.

I’ll be seeing this one for sure. It basically dives into the seedier period in film history and just how out of hand it got. Check out the trailer after the jump.

I really don’t know what this movie’s about but it has Alan Tudyk so I’m there. It’s one of the midnight films of the festival, which are primarily genre/horror films. This one looks to please both fronts. The trailer is after the jump.

Jesse and I will be attending the SXSW Film Festival this year so I thought I would start showing some previews of what we’re planning on seeing. First up is The People vs. George Lucas, which looks to be an exposé on how Lucas’ fans have turned against him due to all the choices he’s made with the Star Wars films. Well this ought to be interesting. No matter how many times I’ve been burned by the Platinum Dunes horror remakes, I still get sold on the trailers every time.
