One Last Job: Production Notes

I know we mainly report on other people’s art here at The Breach, but I talked it over with James and Adam during a pre-show Breachcast talk a few weeks back and they both gave their blessing for this article so here goes.  I apologize for the “bloggy” nature of this post but I’m writing [...]

Sleeper Cell: Desperation (2006)

So. Imagine you’ve reached the climax (heh) of a the novel you’re reading, and the supernatural, demon bad-guy is confronted by the local law enforcement officer, and this cop opens up a can of peanuts in the demon’s face. But stay with me though. Because it’s not even a can of peanuts. It’s one of [...]

Trailer: The Walking Dead

I know this posted everywhere a few days ago, but I can’t resist. Feast your eyes fully on what is sure to be the greatest television show in history!

Teaser: The Loved Ones

Even after nearly six months, this is still my favorite movie from this year’s SXSW film festival.  There is a trailer out there that gives WAY too much away.  But I came across this teaser and decided it not only gives you a great sense of what the film is accomplishing but is pretty damn [...]

Black Swan [Trailer]

I have a theory that Darren Aronofsky literally smells like WTF. My point being that aside from The Wrestler – and even then, a little – he makes the disturbing somehow beautiful so often that he probably oozes the scent from out of his pores. Padmé sucking on Jackie’s face shouldn’t be a [...]

Sleeper Cell: Bloody Mallory (2002)

You know, driving is one of my all time favorite things to do. I sit in the air conditioned comfy seat, and rock out to my favorite tunes. It’s awesome. But, as much as I love it, sometimes I space out, and lose track of what’s going on. And maybe I drift a little. Nothing [...]

Trailer: Fair Game (No Cindy Crawford Edition)

No, it’s not for the horrid Cindy Crawford vehicle from the mid-90s. This is some spy shit with King Kong’s main squeeze and Spicoli. Check it out after the break!

Trailer: Monsters (Updated with International Trailer)

So this was one that I admitted I needed to see again before fully fleshing out an opinion. It was the last film I watched at this year’s SXSW so I was dog tired and the opening (as well as this trailer) would have you believe this is going to be an action film when it’s actually a romance set against the back drop of a future where humans are coexisting with giant aliens. The major coup for this film though are the effects. Director Gareth Edwards basically took a couple of people with him to Mexico and shot a film, guerrilla style. The whole thing was made for a small amount of money and the effects were done on Edwards’ laptop, by himself. Basically everything you see in this trailer has an effect in it- the warning signs on the road, the plane parts and the jet being pulled under water. At any rate, I’ll stop rambling but check this out after the jump.

Sleeper Cell: Romeo and Juliet (1966)

Ok, so we’ve been running this little SLEEPER CELL section of the Mediabreach for going on eight months now, so it’s probably a little late for an introduction. Still, here I am. Hello, my name is Zack, and I love movies. (Everybody, let’s welcome Zack to the group. Group response (smiling, but not too excited): [...]

Retro Review: Drunken Master [1978]

Like any red-blooded American dude, I enjoy watching a good ass kicking.  However, Kung Fu movies are a special treat; they are a form of visual poetry, a testament to the potential of human kinesiology and served up with a healthy dose of kitsch from our nation’s point of view.  And if a good story [...]

Trailer: The Illusionist

The new animated feature from the director of Belleville Rendezvous (The Triplets of Belleville), Sylvain Chomet. This looks amazing early, and will no doubt make us all forget about Eddie Norton’s disappointing magic man movie. Old man magician movies have some kind of charm – see also The Great Buck Howard. You might have to [...]

The Other Guys

With the comedy sorely lacking this summer, we all needed The Other Guys pretty badly.  Dinner For Schmucks, was funny and did get unnecessarily blasted but after seeing director Adam McKay’s return to the format over the weekend, Jay Roach’s movie was clearly just an appetizer.  McKay is now without a doubt, the best, purest [...]

Cinemapocalypse: The Expendables Part 2

So this was what we came for- The Expendables! A movie that promised audiences would be decimated by the shear amount of balls flying about as shrapnel throughout the film. It was 4:45AM by this point and I don’t have to tell you I was tired. Hell, after the trio of flicks we had just seen, I could have easily called it a night and gone home. Then Zack from the Alamo announced that none other than Sylvester Stallone had bought everybody in the auditorium a box of popcorn. The feast was delivered and the film started. And from the very first kill, my butt was clenched. But was it enough to sustain my excitement for a full 90 minutes? Find out after the jump.
