So this was one that I admitted I needed to see again before fully fleshing out an opinion.¬† It was the last film I watched at this year’s SXSW so I was dog tired and the opening (as well as this trailer) would have you believe this is going to be an action film when it’s actually a romance set against the back drop of a future where humans are coexisting with giant aliens.¬† The major coup for this film though are the effects.¬† Director Gareth Edwards basically took a couple of people with him to Mexico and shot a film, guerrilla style.¬† The whole thing was made for a small amount of money and the effects were done on Edwards’ laptop, by himself.¬† Basically everything you see in this trailer has an effect in it- the warning signs on the road, the plane parts and the jet being pulled under water.¬† At any rate, I’ll stop rambling but check this out before you close the window-
