Here's what I think of Marvel's flirting with 3D and 3D in general: Fuck that shit. I'm officially sick of 3D. It's nothing more than a marketing ploy and excuse to charge more for tickets and thereby rake in more money. Period. I know I'm in the minority about this but Avatar's 3D didn't blow up my skirt. Yeah, it was technical feat that was totally worthy of the praise it received (the effects not the story) but at the end of the day – for me at least – the quality of the CG was what made that movie so damn pretty. Cameron's 3D just proved that it's possible to do 3D in an elegant, non-bombastic way.

Also, take into consideration on how Marvel's franchises really don't need 3D to get people to see their movies. I mean, they have an installed fan base that will, most assuredly, pay to see each of their theatrical releases several times. I can't remember which on of you said it but it's a valid point that throwing 3D into one of the franchises that already has installments that aren't in 3D kinda fucks up the over all look and feel of that series. But of course, I'm sure converting is always a lovely way to grease their palms by attempting to force us to by new additions for our new 3D TV's that we just have to have. Fuck that. Cram your 3D TV's up your 3D assholes. Y'know what? I take it back. I know I might be putting too much faith in the American consumer here but keep trying to force feed us 3D everything; the “I'm sick of this shit” attitude might actually start to spread.

So no, I don't want Captain America in 3D. It's a fucking period piece for christsakes. How is drab ass WWII Germany going to benefit from anything in 3D? It just means I'll have to work hard at finding a theatre not showing it in 3D. Oh wait, it was shot in 3D. That means I won't have a choice and naturally, that means I want 3D and I love it with every fiber of my being. Okay I need to stop.

    On to Lost. [spoilers]

I loved, loved, loved this episode. It echoed Allison Janney's Mommy Dearest character's lines “my answers will just lead to more questions” but fortunately, it gave us a lot more to theorize about.

-Do either one of you think that Mom has smoke monster abilities? I only ask because not only was she capable of filling in a well in under a few hours but she massacred Smokey's people seemingly alone and then there was the bit we she pulled the “ta-da!” near the ladder in the well behind Smokey. Very Smokey behavior. One more time: Smokey.

-I'm really hoping the nature of the source isn't supernatural. I was really digging the pseudo-scientific vibe the series had early on. In the end, I don't mind if they leave you with that mystical, magical impression but I hope they at least either leave it vague or elaborate enough to allow for something along the lines of a natural energy source as being a palpable answer to the source's nature.

-I'd like to throw a wrench into Dustin's theory that Smokey and Jacob's Brother are separate entities. If we take what Mom says at face value and certainly Smokey's inability to kill Jacob in several other instances proves it, Smokey is indeed Jacob's brother transformed by the source. Keep in mind that Jacob wasn't supposed to be able to kill Smokey either so the source effectively killing his body but leaving behind his soul/consciousness/electromagnetic signature in the form of a cloud of black smoke wouldn't count as death. As Mom said, “it's worse than than death” but technically, he's still around.

-I didn't like that they kind of held the audiences' hands by having the flashbacks (forwards?) of Kate, Jack and John finding Adam and Eve in the caves. It's pretty fucking obvious guys. Oh wait, maybe they were playing to the crowd that wouldn't have gotten the Super 8 trailer without the title card.

    I'm done.
