It’s being reported that Conan O’Brien will be getting his own show on TBS when he’s able to return to television in the fall.¬† I hope you can share in my enthusiasm when I say, “OMFG, YES, YES, YES!”¬† I’ve been a pretty big Conan fan for quite a while now and was pretty crushed upon his decision to vacate the The Tonight Show instead of seeing it’s time slot slide into a later period.¬† But having read this news, I’m pretty psyched.

The unfortunate thing for any fans of George Lopez¬† (are you out there?¬† Hello? do you even exist?) is that his unbearable “show” will be moved to the midnight slot so that Conan’s new show can be aired at 11pm.¬† This will have him squaring off thirty minutes earlier against all the regularly scheduled late night shows on the broadcast networks and will pit him square against the likes of The Daily Show and Colbert Report.

I guess the only other interesting thing to ask is what happened to all of those talks with Fox?¬† The TBS partnership seemingly comes out of nowhere but I’ll be interested to see if the tone for his shows is any different now that he’s on cable.¬† I’m of the opinion that the man can be funny no matter where he’s at.¬† But I’m a huge fan of Big Red, so you might say I’m biased.¬† In perfect Conan fashion, he had this to say regarding the announcment-

“In three months I’ve gone from network television to Twitter to performing live in theaters, and now I’m headed to basic cable. My plan is working perfectly.”

TBS must've given him a monster paycheck.

He's funny on any channel so I am of course, down for this.

For the record, folks, I've not seen anything of The George Lopez Show other than the TV Spots. That being said, I once attempted to watch one of his stand up DVDs and couldn't make it through the whole performance. So I feel that even without seeing his show I could classify it as “unbearable” considering my comedic tastes. If you happen to enjoy TGLS and are infuriated that you'll now have to watch it an hour later, feel free to air your grievances and/or stop watching it in protest.

Best news I've heard today. Can't wait for the return of Camel Toe Annie.
