oscarsFigured I would repost this so we could discuss the Oscars.  The winners are all fine in my mind but the show itself was a bit of a mess.  That strange acceptance speech interruption for the Documentary Short winner, the complete lack of Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin after having to endure those cheesy commercials, and a bunch of strange sounds off stage throughout all combined to make a bizarre show. But enough with that, here are the winners.

this year looks pretty good, man.

Guess I have a lot of movies I need to watch if I actually want to give an opinion about anything. Yay District 9!

This might be the first time that I've seen the majority of best picture noms. Still need to see A Serious Man. I don't even really know what An Education is about. Or the movie for that matter (rim shot, a-thank you!)

Psyched for Up and D9 though. Totally awesome that they are getting props. Hell, D9 has 4 noms!

I hope Up wins for musical score; everything I've ever heard of Michael Giacchino's, I've loved.

  • Zack_S

Guy Ritchie up for an Oscar??!! It seems like only yesterday he was taking home the MTV Movie Award for Lock Stock. Good times…

Hope Parnassus wins what it can.

  • http://www.mediabreach.com Adam

i kinda hope Renner walks away with best actor, although I think it's really between Clooney and Bridges.

I'll take a shot at a few predictions-

Best Picture – Avatar (it's either this or The Hurt Locker)
Best Director- James Cameron- It MIGHT be Bigelow, but I doubt it
    Best Actress- Sandra Bullock
Best Actor- Bridges has this in the bag
    Best Supporting Actress- Mo'Nique
    Best Supporting Actor- Colonel Hans
Avatar will sweep most of the tech awards (editing, sound/editing, effects, though if it gets Art Direction or Cinematography I could see it being controversial. I could see Nine getting both of those as well.)
Adapted Screenplay- Up in the Air
    Original Screenplay- Inglourious Basterds
    Animated film- Up
    Song – Crazy Heart
    Score- Up
Make up- Star Trek (haven't seen the other two, so I'm going off pure gross there)
Documentary will go to The Cove, even though I haven't seen it, it's got the most buzz.

That's all I can think of right now. Any other predictions?

For the record, these are not MY pics, but just what I think will win.

Lots of people were hoping he would get nominated for Star Trek.

yeah those seem pretty right on to me

The lady interrupting the speech KILLED me. I was dying laughing and looking on in horror, it was great.

Everyone and everything won that I expected. I called The Hurt Locker for Best Pic yesterday, and everyone on Earth knew Bridges was going to take best actor. Even though I haven't seen The Blind Side, and I'm not exactly the biggest Sandra Bullock fan, I'm really happy that she won. It was nice to see someone that wasn't in some suffocatingly pretentious movie win a best actress award.

Also, the internet can finally shut up about Avatar. It didn't sweep shit, so quit crying about how overexposed it is. Cinematography award aside (that one was highly questionable) it walked away with what it deserved. Hurt Locker ftw motherfuckers!!! GO WATCH IT AGAIN, DUSTIN JESUS CHRIST.

WTF, so many Hurt Locker…incredible…understandable, but still incredible…good for them, and great for the Academy for not all hopping on the Avatar train; though I kind of wanted them to… XD
