I though Whedon as uninvolved after the first few episodes… I must've read it wrong. As far as animated shorts, A Matter of Loaf and Death is the only one I've seen, and it better not win. I'm surprised 9 wasn't nominated for animated feature over something like Mr. Fox or Princess and the Frog. Not that it was great, I'm just surprised.

I'm not going to lie, 9 was pretty disappointing and didn't impress me as much as Mr. Fox. Don't get me wrong, Mr. Fox was not all the fanboys cracked it up to be, but I still enjoyed it more than 9.

I totally understand. If they were charging $2.50 to just watch the original short on the big screen, that woulda been better. But just because it was so different from traditional animated films, and still a pretty decent movie, I wish it would've gotten the recognition over a pretty standard Disney offering.

  4. Dustin Dustin says:

I hear ya. It probably need to make more $$$ for that to happen. I think Frog Princess passed $100 million the other day. And even though Mr. Fox didn't make any money either, it at least had the critical following. You have to have one of those variables or both or the movie goes nowhere with the Oscars, unfortunately.

I'll tell you what disappointed me. I don't think I heard “at any rate” anywhere in the podcast. Just saying.

  6. Dustin Dustin says:

I can guarantee that there was at least one “at any rate” towards the beginning.
