Cool breachcast. I haven't seen all the movies on your lists and probably won't see all of them but you break down what you like and dislike about each nicely. Either of you two notice how Moon and Avatar are kind of polar opposites on the uh…sci-fi pole? I actually got a lot of crap from my wife & a friend of mine for liking Moon as much as I did. I know the story, much like Avatar's, was predictable and cliche but I thought Moon's story was executed really well and didn't spoon feed you. Avatar, to me, was the exact opposite: mind raping effects with a really easy story. I guess they do have toys to sell. I would've bought Moon toys.

I agree with you on the James Gandolfini thing. I think a lot of the reason I didn't like him for the longest time was for the roles he had chosen. The Sopranos was lost on me because I'm not really enthralled by the whole Italian Mafia mystique and the only other thing I can remember him in is the Mexican which can't pay me back that wasted hour and a half it owes me. I saw him in this movie, In the Loop, not too long ago and I actually liked him a lot in it. If you don't mind a British satire about politics with cruel, dehumanizing cursing, check it out if you haven't already.

If the two of you are J.J. Abrams fanboys, here's a talk by him on what makes his stuff work: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vpjVgF5JDq8 again, if you haven't seen it already.

And finally, I can't agree enough with Dustin on Up. For me, I don't know, I don't see how Pixar can top that movie and I can honestly say that I've never felt that way about one of their other movies before. That's not to say their other movies aren't amazing but this is in a class all its own. It's like they unlocked whatever part of their brains that was still locked up and let it spew just…fucking imagination and emotion everywhere on the screen with none of it seeming out of place or too retarded. A house flying with ballons, talking dogs? It all made perfect sense without dumbing any of it down. God and that first 10 minutes was emotional manipulation at its best. It's like they had invisible diodes on your head, flipped a switch and said, “you will cry…NOW!” Goddamn sadists and I love them for it.

Holy fuck! There's Avatar toys? I'll be back later, dudes!

you're probably really tired of me kissing your ass but dammit i'm glad you're around to listen to and read this shit we do.

i really need to see Up again. i saw it once, and it was in a discount theater full of babies and there was a thin layer of gummy bears that coated the floor.

  • http://www.mediabreach.com Dustin

Dude, come over to my place and we can watch it together. Although, I currently have a layer of gummy bears on my body, if that turns you off.

http://www.avataritag.com/#/toys/ in all its flash goodness. Is it wrong to want Juliet Lewis figure to go along with a Giovanni Ribsi figure to reenact scenes from The Other Sister? I don't think so.

  • James

Lol, and here I thought it was the other way around. No ass kissing required, I really do dig the way you guys do things. And yes, you should try watching it again. Babies and floor gummi bears do not a good movie watching experience make.

Is it wrong that I giggled at the Jake Sulley “action” figure because he's in a wheelchair? I kid, I kid.

  • James

I'm giggling at that way more than I should be.

I don't remember if it was this breachcast or not but thanks to the two of you for cluing me into monoprice.com. I got my HDMI cable today and Nathan Drake is that much more man-crush worthy.

I can't remember when we mentioned that, but monoprice.com fuckin' rules. I just installed an HDMI cable and an Optical cable for my parents' home theater. Both purchased from Monoprice and for $10. They are just the best, man.
